Mikä on rumpuhiomakone?

Rumpuhiomakone on puuntyöstökone, jota käytetään pintojen tasoittamiseen ja viimeistelyyn. Rumpuhiomakoneessa on pyörivästä alumiinirumpu, jonka ympärille on kiinnitetty hiomapaperi. Hiottava kappale kulkee rummun alla tai sen ohi tasaisesti liikkuvalla hihnalla, jolloin hiomapaperi poistaa pieniä epätasaisuuksia ja tekee pinnasta sileän ja tasapaksun.

Rumpuhiomakone soveltuu parhaiten kevyeeseen materiaalin poistamiseen, viimeistelyyn ja tarkkuushiontaan. Sen avulla voidaan varmistaa, että esimerkiksi liimalevyt, pöytälevyt, ovipaneelit tai huonekalujen osat ovat saman paksuisia ennen lopullista viimeistelyä.

Mihin rumpuhiomakonetta käytetään?

Rumpuhiomakoneella tasoitetaan ja siistitään puupintoja, jolloin paksuus on tasainen ja viimeistely hieno — ihanteellinen paneeleille, oville ja pöytälevyille.

Mitä eroa on rumpuhiomakoneella ja tasohöylällä?

Tasohöylä poistaa paksumman materiaalin tasoittamaan lautoja, kun taas rumpuhiomakone käyttää hiomapaperia pinnan tasoittamiseen ja hienosäätöön poistamatta paljon paksuutta.

Voiko rumpuhiomakonetta käyttää epoksipöytien hiontaan?

Kyllä. Epoksipöytien hionnassa varsinkin hieno hiomapaperi voi tukkeutua nopeasti, jonka vuoksi hiomanauha tulisi muistaa puhdistaa säännöllisesti esimerkiksi hiomanauhan puhdistajalla.
